Established in 2014, Accepting Others Organization (AOO) is a non-governmental, non-profit, and non-religious entity operating in federal Iraq and the Kurdistan Region. Led by women and youth, our focus is on promoting and safeguarding human rights, particularly advancing women’s rights and empowerment nationwide. Role of the English Teacher:
The English Teacher plays a fundamental role in providing quality English language instruction to students, fostering their language proficiency, communication skills, and cultural understanding. They create engaging and interactive learning environments that inspire students to develop their language abilities and achieve academic success.
Specific Tasks:
- Curriculum Development and Lesson Planning:
- Develop engaging and age-appropriate lesson plans aligned with curriculum standards and learning objectives.
- Design interactive activities, games, and exercises to facilitate language acquisition, grammar comprehension, vocabulary expansion, and language fluency.
- Instruction and Classroom Management:
- Deliver dynamic and effective English language instruction to students of varying proficiency levels, ensuring active participation and engagement.
- Create a supportive and inclusive classroom environment conducive to learning, mutual respect, and cultural exchange.
- Assessment and Feedback:
- Administer formative and summative assessments to evaluate students’ language proficiency, monitor progress, and identify areas for improvement.
- Provide constructive feedback and individualized support to students to help them enhance their language skills and achieve their learning goals.
- Cultural and Linguistic Integration:
- Integrate cultural content and real-world contexts into English language lessons to promote cultural awareness, cross-cultural communication, and global citizenship.
- Encourage students to explore diverse perspectives, traditions, and customs through literature, multimedia resources, and authentic language materials.
- Technology Integration:
- Incorporate educational technology tools and resources into English language instruction to enhance learning outcomes, such as interactive whiteboards, language learning apps, and multimedia resources.
- Provide guidance and support to students in using technology effectively for language learning and communication purposes.
- Professional Development:
- Engage in ongoing professional development activities, such as workshops, conferences, and training sessions, to enhance teaching effectiveness, pedagogical skills, and subject knowledge.
- Stay updated on current trends, research findings, and best practices in English language teaching and learning to continuously improve instructional strategies and curriculum design.
Essential Criteria:
- Education and Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in English language teaching, education, linguistics, or a related field.
- Teaching certification or qualification (e.g., TEFL, TESOL, CELTA) is highly desirable.
- Teaching Experience:
- Proven experience of at least 2 years in teaching English as a second language (ESL) or English as a foreign language (EFL), preferably in multicultural or international settings.
- Demonstrated ability to create engaging lesson plans, deliver effective instruction, and assess student learning outcomes.
- Language Proficiency:
- Native or near-native proficiency in English, with excellent speaking, listening, reading, and writing skills.
- Ability to effectively communicate and explain complex language concepts in a clear and comprehensible manner.
- Interpersonal and Communication Skills:
- Strong interpersonal skills, with the ability to build positive relationships with students, colleagues, and parents.
- Clear and effective communication skills, both verbal and written, to convey information, instructions, and feedback to diverse audiences.
- Cultural Sensitivity and Adaptability:
- Cultural sensitivity and adaptability to work effectively with students from diverse cultural, linguistic, and socio-economic backgrounds.
