Main Objective(s)

Our project is driven by the overarching goal of empowering women in the Khanaqeen district of Diyala, Iraq, with the necessary skills and resources to become successful entrepreneurs and achieve economic independence. Specifically, our objectives are detailed as follows:

  1. Capacity Building Through KAB Training:
    • To provide comprehensive Know About Business (KAB) training to 200 women selected based on vulnerability, desire, and capability.
    • To enhance participants’ business skills and entrepreneurial awareness over a five-day training program, enabling them to identify business opportunities, develop business plans, and effectively manage small enterprises.
  2. Post-Training Support for Sustainable Entrepreneurship:
    • To identify the 100 most qualified women from the training cohort based on assessments and proposals.
    • To offer financial support in the form of grants of up to $700 to facilitate the establishment of small businesses by the selected women.
    • To provide ongoing coaching and guidance to the beneficiaries, ensuring they receive the necessary support for sustained business success.
  3. Collaborative Partnerships for Community Impact:
    • To collaborate with local stakeholders, including the Mayor’s Office of Khanaqeen, Women’s Rights Department, community representatives, women NGOs/civil society organizations, local authorities, and media channels.
    • To leverage these partnerships to maximize the project’s impact in Khanaqeen and its surrounding areas, fostering community development and growth.

Sustainability Strategies:

  1. Skill and Knowledge Transfer:
    • To equip women with enduring skills and knowledge acquired during the training, empowering them to implement their own business projects or secure employment opportunities.
  2. Economic Independence:
    • To create sustainable sources of income and job opportunities for women, contributing to their long-term socioeconomic stability and that of their families.
  3. Continued Monitoring and Support:
    • To monitor the progress and success of the 100 established business projects for at least six months post-project, providing ongoing support and guidance to ensure sustainability and resilience in the face of challenges.

Through these objectives, our project aims to serve as a catalyst for positive change, offering women in Khanaqeen a pathway to self-reliance, economic empowerment, and a brighter future for themselves and their communities.
