Building Bridges: AOO’s Proposal for Inclusive Urban Development in Erbil

On March 27, 2024, the team from Accepting Others Organization (AOO) had the pleasure of meeting with Mr. Omed Khoshnaw, the distinguished Governor of Erbil. During our meeting, we discussed a proposed project that AOO aims to implement, pending acceptance and support from the South Korean government.

If the proposal gains approval, AOO stands poised to make significant contributions to urban development in Erbil. This includes plans for a new park tailored for children, featuring amenities such as a running/walking/cycling path and exercise equipment, all designed for easy accessibility by persons with disabilities. Furthermore, AOO plans to enhance the city’s greenery by planting trees and other foliage, while also integrating crucial infrastructure for individuals with disabilities at the historic Erbil Citadel, a UNESCO World Heritage site.

In addition to these initiatives, AOO intends to champion women’s rights and empowerment within civil society and governance through this project. We also aspire to create a platform that will provide substantial informational services to both residents and tourists, thereby enriching the local community and fostering a more inclusive environment.

AOO expresses gratitude to Mr. Omed Khoshnaw and his team for their enthusiasm and support of this proposed project.
